WEST Triumphs as the only PNS Team to score at JR Nationals!!

Another sign that WEST is on the rise coming off of a phenomenal season, we were the only team from the Pacific NorthWest LSC to score at the Junior National meet held this month in Irvine, CA! Heidi VanderWel (14 SRI) had the meet of her life placing 15th in the 200 backstroke and 10th in the 100 backstroke against this nations top swimmers 18 years old and younger. Her 200 backstroke time of 2:16.10 and 100 backstroke time of 1:03.81 put her way ahead of the previous Olympic Trials standards and very likely puts her as qualified for the Olympic Trials meet next June (official standards are due to be published by October)!! Her times also propelled Heidi to the 2nd fastest 14 year old girl in the USA in the 200 backstroke and 4th in the 100 backstroke.

WEST team-mates Anna Keane (14 SRI) and Kalena Laurent (15 SRI) rounded out our national team at the JR National meet. Both Anna and Kalena achieved best times as well as team records in their events! No easy task at the end of the season and for both this was their first time at such a high level national meet!

Congratulations to our JR National team for putting WEST at the top of our LSC and setting the standard for their team-mates to strive towards!!
